What's the Difference?
Technically soap is the chemical reaction that occurs when a fatty acid (animal or
vegetable fat) is combined with an alkali (typically sodium hydroxide).
Nearly 70 years ago, chemists discovered a method of synthesizing some of the
componets required for soap making and the detergent was born! These
detergents are less expensive to produce and give the desired cleaning.
Most commercially produced soaps are partially or wholly made of detergents.
They clean well but in the process can strip the skin of necessary oils to
maintain healthy skin. Many soaps are very harsh for people with sensitive
skin or with skin problems.
Our soap is made the old fashioned way. We do not use any chemical additives, preservatives, or bubble boosters.
We use only quality vegetable oils, never any animal fats or oils.
Once you use handmade soap, you will never want to go back to commercial soap again!
